First Year Summer Students

FIRST YEAR SUMMER STUDENTS:

Do you recruit first year summer students?
Case-by-Case
When is the application deadline for first year summer students? The LSO guidelines for the recruitment of summer students set out the application deadline.
When is the interviewing period? We follow the LSO guidelines to determine the interviewing period.
Do you participate in on-campus interview (OCI) programs to fill such positions? No
Description of first year summer program: We provide our summer students with as thorough an exposure to the practice of law as the summer months allow. Your work will be similar to that of an articling student. We will arrange for you to work with as many lawyers in as many practice areas possible.

Although most of our students spend their whole summer at the firm to fully benefit from the experience, some of our students spend a portion of the summer doing legal work for a public interest organization, legal research for a professor at a Canadian law school; or on secondment. If you are interested in such an arrangement, you are welcome to approach us with a specific proposal after being hired. Torys pays the full summer salary to students who participate in certain pre-approved arrangements or programs.
