Description of articling program |
At RSS, we think long-term: it is with this in mind that we choose and train our interns and students. Many of our current lawyers have also made their debut that way. The articling we offer is flexible, without a rigid rotation system. Thus, you will have access to all areas of practice of the firm, that is to say: business law, civil and commercial litigation, insurance, labour and employment, transportation, family law, and estates, wills and trusts. You could also assist our professionals in tax law, real estate, and bankruptcy and insolvency. In addition, from the beginning of your internship, you will have the opportunity to plead before the courts.
We favour not only the delegation of responsibilities while maintaining a prudent supervision, but also your creativity. That’s why you’ll have all the tools and training you need to develop and reach your full potential. We will put everything in place so that your articling gives you the opportunity to gain as much experience as possible. As an article student, you could be required to perform any of the following tasks: -Assist professionals in the management of their files -Write summaries, draft legal opinions, and proceedings -Perform research and assist in the preparation of trials and transactions -Prepare for the conduct and closing of commercial transactions -Prepare and assist in discovery and the hearing of applications and trials -Provide support during negotiations -Plead before the courts and other instances -Appear in court to present various applications required for the progress of legal instances -Prepare and conduct interrogations (insurance law) -Manage your own files under the supervision of a lawyer (insurance law) -Hold client meetings |
