Description of the second year summer program Our summer student program is designed to give you exposure to a variety of work in different practice areas and facilitate your transition from student to articling student.

As part of the program, students are assigned a mentor, usually a junior associate who remembers what it's like to be a student. Your mentor will be there to offer guidance in many different areas.

Our goal at Dentons is to provide you with varied professional opportunities and proactively integrate you into our daily practice. To that end, we don’t run a formal rotation for summer students, instead our Manager, Recruitment and Professional Student Development will assign mandates to the students in different areas to allow them to get exposure to a wide cross-section of files.
Comments Our summer student positions are reserved to the candidates we hire through "Course aux stages".
How many weeks is the second year summer program? 11 to 12 weeks.

Description of articling program The high-quality articling program at the Montréal office of Dentons will equip you with the tools you'll need to become a great lawyer. We invest heavily in training and development and are constantly striving to improve our processes to ensure students get the very most from their articles and beyond.

The program begins with an orientation to acquaint you with our office, management and methodologies. From there you'll be assigned work on real files and given numerous opportunities to draft documents, meet with clients, conduct legal research, assist in major corporate transactions and disputes.

The initial orientation program will be supplemented with seminars throughout your articles that deal with issues of particular interest to new lawyers.

We believe that your articling period represents the best opportunity for you to gain valuable exposure to a wide variety of practice areas. It features three rotations scheduled over six months.

Our rotation schedule is as follows:

Litigation and Labour Law (2 months);
Commercial Law (2 months);
Practice sector of your choice (2 months).

In each rotation, you will work closely with lawyers in that group; assisting with corporate transactions and disputes, and otherwise gaining experience by liaising with members of the firm. We also encourage you to meet with clients from the outset and to gain practical, first-hand experience working on their files.

We treat you as a valuable member of the firm from day one.
