Description of first year summer program: | Our summer program provides first year summer students with an introduction to Dentons’ Edmonton office, our forward-thinking culture and what it’s like to practice law as a fully integrated part of our team. Our students dive into the legal profession, work on real files, meet clients, participate in community activities and experience local business development first hand by actively participating in our summer events. Our students start with a detailed training and orientation program, participate in team-building activities and are paired with an associate mentor to help ensure they get the most out of their summer with us, including ongoing feedback. Our summer program is flexible and can be tailored to individual students’ different needs and interests, to ensure a smooth transition into the practice of law. At Dentons, we understand that the future of our Firm is the students we hire. |

Description of articling program | The Dentons Edmonton articling program is structured to provide our students with well-rounded articles, and facilitate their transition into the practice of law and our forward-thinking culture. We have comprehensive orientation and training programs, and many opportunities to get involved in the fabric of the Firm. You’ll build on the individual skills you’ll need to become a legal practitioner, and further your ability to work as part of a close team. Throughout the articling year students rotate between transaction, dispute resolution and specialty practice areas, integrating them into our teams and gaining vast exposure to legal work in a variety of ways. This rotation allows us to assess students, provide valuable feedback and help them develop their individual skills. We match each student with two mentors: a principal and a co-principal, to ensure involvement across a diverse group of practitioners and to provide students with exposure to as many aspects of the practice of law as possible. Other members of our team actively participate as informal mentors throughout the year. |
